Poetry in Magazines

I’ve been writing more poetry recently and you can see my work in recent issues of Pulsebeat, The Frogmore Papers, Broken Spine and forthcoming Dreamcatcher.

Here’s my poem Fifty Fifty:

Fifty Fifty

Why do you
Turn
Upside down
Away from me

I know I snore
It’s not
My dignity
I miss

It’s your words
Upon
My shoulder
Breathing

You know
It’s not
The flip
Of the coin

It’s the coin
Itself
The rub of
The milled edge

Between
Our fingers
Before the
Game begins

So
Come back
This
Way

We can
Lie and
Watch
The Coin

Spinning
In the air
Landing
Anywhere

Rising
Falling
Into the
Long Grass

I don’t
Turn to look
I choose
You

You choose
Who
You choose
But

As the world
Spins
Only we
Resist

The glint
Of metal
Sharp in
The shade

Until our lips
Smuggle
A sliver
A slip

Of minted
Alloy into
Delighted
Teeth

Heads
You win
Tails
Go nude
